Hey Lovelies, how are we all? Sorry I haven’t blogged in ages. Since getting back from holiday I’ve just been a bit distant from my blog. And there is nothing worse than forcing blog posts. So I’ve been keeping track of any ideas I have had and am now ready to get back to it. I have been posting to Instagram so I haven’t been completely gone.
GOSH VELVET TOUCH LIPSTICK
Today I’m kick starting my month break with some new beauty products. Lets start with this GOSH Velvet Touch Lipstick in the colour Nougat. Wow, what a really fab lippy. I have quite thin lips so I often shy away from wearing lippy and head towards a gloss, but this dusk pink nude is so nice. I have to admit I have a similar shade lipstick from Loreal, but this one is so smooth and as the name suggests, velvety! It is an A/W make up staple for me, its dark enough to not look odd against my pale-ish skin.
No7 INSTANT RADIANCE
I love love love to highlight and contour. Not as extreme as Kim K but I like to look a bit bronzed and shimmery. These No7 Instant Radiance Highlighter and Bronzing Highlighter are perfect for summer skin and winter skin. The bronzing highlighter is great for when you have some colour, as it shows it off even more with that summer glow. The highlighter is great for brightening eyes and highlighting above your cheekbones. I use it everyday and the results are always fab. Below you can see what they both look like on my skin tone. Shimmering goodness in a stick!
GOSH 9 SHADES- TO ENJOY IN NEW YORK
I really am a sucker for eye shadow palettes. This muted purple hues one by GOSH is so pretty and girly. I love the look of a purple smokey eye and this palette helps me create the perfect day smokey eye for work! The middle 3 colours are my faves they are so autumnal. For £9.99 in Superdrug I think it’s a really great addition my make up collection which does consist of a lot of Urban Decay. This palette fits in so well with my Naked 3 Palette.
Have you picked up any new beauty products lately? Let me know in the comments below, I’m always stalking the make up isles when I go shopping!
Oh! You can find the whole range of Gosh Cosmetics in Superdrug stores or online >here< (this post isn’t sponsored I just really love finding new beauty products).
Hey Lovelies, I went a little make up mad in Boots the other day! A very clear ‘bronzed’ colour scheme had emerged by the end of it. To say that I am having a constant battle with my eyebrows is an understatement. I haven’t done anything to them now for about 4 months I think. Just letting them grow and grow until they basically have no shape at all, so I can go and get them done professionally. It is about time I go get them seen to. In preparation for this historic event, I ended up purchasing some much needed brow stuff. I do love my Benefit brow powder, but when a girls on a budget she has to be sensible. I will go back to Benefit, but for now I thought I’d change things up and go for a more ‘high street’ make up brand. Rimmel have recently released some brow mascaras, so I thought I’d give them a try. I got BROW THIS WAY (4) in Medium Blonde and Dark Brown, I sometimes find that my eyebrows are way too dark so I thought I could somehow mix the two. I also got (5) a Maybelline Master Shape brow pencil in Soft brown. I haven’t tried it yet, but if its too light it will be adopted my my mama.
Moving on from brow products to some bronzed/golden products. (1) SEVENTEEN Instant Glow shimmer brick, a gorgeous set of 4 golden shades to swirl onto your bronzing brush/blush brush to create that bronzed sun kissed look or for some slight contouring. The lightest colour is also really nice to use singularly as a highlighter. (3) I think I purchased this Rimmel WONDER’FULL mascara because it contains Argan Oil, and we all know the wonders it does to your hair. So why not treat your lashes with some TLC. I’ve been using it about a week and so far, I can’t tell if its softens them or anything, but they are still very full and big which is what I like in my lashes.
Now for the more interesting purchase, well for me anyway. (2) Maybelline Kajal Liner in Gold is a very creamy kohl eyeliner. I am one for using pen eyeliner, in black. But I thought, lets try something different, and give my eyes a hint of sparkle. To open my eyes up I am going to be using this gold eyeliner under my eyes.
Hey Lovelies, after a long amount of time I finally caved and purchased an Urban Decay Naked Palette. I own the Smoked Palette already but was looking for something with some pinky hues which I just love the look of. It was quite difficult to choose between the 3 palettes as I LOVE the gun metal grey from the first palette, but in the end I thought, go for it, get the more girly colours, it’s not all about the smokey eye! (It is though). I can honestly say I’ve never owned an eyeshadow palette before, like this one, with such a vast amount of shadows. It also comes with a double ended brush, one for the lid and the other end a fluffy brush for the crease and all that blending! I forgot to photograph something else it comes with, 4 mini sachet type squishy things that have a sample of all 4 of the primer potions.
Now its time for some swatches!! As you can see I’m a bit like a ghost/zombie without all that eating brains business. Just look at all those pinky/neutral hues. My fave combo so far is LIMIT and NOONER, which are the 2 matt effect shadows, I do like shimmery eyes, but its nice to mix things up a bit. I’m gonna be brave and do some kind of get ready with me post soon, where I can feature these gorgeous shadows in more detail. You might have to wait until I get my eyebrows done though! Some serious caterpillar action is happening at the moment.
I’ve been using STRANGE as a highlighter, just a small amount on the inner part of my eye lid, gives a nice “I’m awake” kinda look, which is very useful seeing that I’m normally doing my make up around 6am!
Have you got any of the Naked Palettes? Do you have a favourite combo that would be worth a try? I’d love to know in the comments below.
Hey Lovelies, as promised, here is the contents of my Blogger Programme goody bag! What a great amount of fab products to try! And another thing thats fab about this goody bag is that its the new Blogger Programme logo design! Some of us hunted through the pile of bags to get them! :)
I can’t wait to scoff the Gnaw Rocky Road bar! I love these!! And how lucky am I that its the Rocky Road one! My fave! I was so surprised by the Love Label eyeshadow palette, some really great earthy colours, will be doing a post on them sometimes soon, I’ve already swatted them and they look really nice! Also quite intrigued by Earthnicity mineral makeup, I’ve tried mineral makeup before, will be good to see how this compares.
Some really beautiful jewellery additions to this goody bag, the pentagram necklace from The Treasure Box is too cute! And I’m a fan of Lisa Angel anyway, and this silver star bracelet is so delicate and stunning :)
I really love nosing through goody bags, its a great way to discover new brands, and maybe try something that you might not have thought about before. There was a business card from God It Feels So Good, I had a look on Instagram to find the cutest girliest Kawaii phone cases, which I saw other some other bloggers had in there goody bags. Will definitely be looking in that more, so so cute.
I’ve never really posted about my every day routine, mainly because when I think about it, it’s normally 6am and I’m still half asleep. But the sun is out so I thought let’s get some nice photos of all the bits I use to get me looking presentable for the day.
Firstly lets talk about hair. 4 products I cannot live without.
Lee Stafford Blow Dry Faster Spray | Label M Sea Salt Spray | Schwartzkopf got2b beach matt | Schwartzkopf got2b Powder’ful
Round of applause to Lee Stafford, for creating this genius spray. Now that my hair is getting longer, yay for mermaid waves, I find it takes an absolute age to dry my hair. This spray helps detangle and speed up the drying process. Perfect if you just want to get your hair done quickly! I have 2 salt sprays, the first being Label M, this pocket-sized spray has lasted ages. Scrunch it into dry hair for a beachy look or spray it onto wet hair for a more matt look. The got2b salt spray is a lot thicker and I find works better on wet hair, as I tried it the other day on dry hair and it was quite clumpy. If you are looking to create volume in your hair I would highly recommend got2b POWDER’ful, I have forever seen the sponsor advert for this before How I Met Your Mother and laughed at the hairstyles they have created. But this powder serially packs a volumizing punch. I’ve been using a lot for plaits as I like them to be messy.
Now for what goes on my face:
Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser | Benefit Porefessional Primer | Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation 3.5 | Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer FBI
(L-R) Bodyshop Basic Brush | Barry M Eyebrow Brush | Models Own Eyeshadow Applicator | Mac Angle Brush 266 |Real Techniques Setting Brush | Superdrug Eyeshadow Pro 13, 11
Real Techniques Buffing Brush | Real Techniques Pointed Foundation | Real Techniques Detailer Brush | Real Techniques Contour Brush
Urban Decay Smoked Pallette | Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Back around Christmas time I was lusting over any of the Naked Palettes by Urban Decay, I really fancied getting Naked 1, but as we all know everyone went a bit mad for them at Christmas. I decided that I just needed to get a palette! The Smoked Palette is gorgeous. It even comes with a book of ‘how to’ smokey eyes for every occasion. Also to my pleasant surprise a mini Primer Potion was in the box too! No more splurgy make up at the end of the day. My go to colours are FREESTYLE as my base, in the inner corner I lighten my eyes with KINKY, and for the outer side (the smokey bit) I adore MUSHROOM a nice earthy brown and ROCKSTAR a musky purple.
Rimmel Scandaleyes Thick & Thin Liquid Eyeliner | Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner | Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eyeline Pencil | Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner
I like to mix it up with my eyeliners. My go to for a perfect winged eye is the Maybelline Master Precise, the thin nib is perfect for a swooping wing or a cat eye effect. For a thick ‘I don’t care’ attitude the Rimmel Scandaleyes Thick and Thin is perfect as I find it hard to get it to be thin. Its just a thick chunky line. When I’m creating a really smokey eye I will use my Urban Decay pencil for a really great smudgy look. The Eyeko Skinny Mini lives in my handbag, for those emergencies when even more eyeliner needs to be added during the day.
FLUTTER THEM LASHES:
Maybelline Great Lash Blackest Black | Rimmel Scandaleyes Extreme Black
These 2 mascaras never let me down, I like my lashes to be noticed, both of these do the job! For a more refined look I use the Maybelline Great Lash, sometimes I put on 2 coats for a slightly bolder lash. With the Rimmel Scandaleyes one coat is enough, no clumping just smooth mascara.
So thats it! I know its not as much as what some other beauty bloggers use everyday but for me its what I like and I can fit it in, in a respectable time in the early hours of the morning.
Hope you have all had a lovely weekend. I;ve spent it chilling out, catching up on TV, watching various catwalks from LFW and taking blog photos! Perfect. Now to another week of work and evening blogging. I do have London Fashion Weekend to look forward to (sorry if I keep going on about it, I’m just so excited) and also a phone catch up with an amazing friend.
Things that I have fallen for this week! Be it clothing, accessories, make up and tech! Theres just so much that I am just like ahhhh can I own you please! Alas I am being a good girl and I’m saving for certain things, but there’s no harm in looking is there…
1. THE DRESS: BLUE VELVET NECKLACE PROM DRESS RIVER ISLAND £60
Anything velvety is okay with me, this dress is gorgeous, I normally get put off when they class dresses specifically as ‘Prom’ dresses but it’s just too darn cute to look past. The fact that it has neck bling included is an added bonus and makes the price tag reasonable.
2: THE MAKEUP: NEUTRAL PALETTE ILLAMASQUA £34.00
To be honest I’ve never really payed that much for make up, the odd Benefit purchase is about as much as I go. Saying that I’ve been converted, in one of my many magazine purchases a small festive booklet fell out, that booklet was by Illamasqua. A make up brand that I had heard about through other bloggers, but I’ve never really looked at. When pay-day comes around though I know I will be splurging on this neutral palette, being able to create a really rich smokey eye is something that the winter months are asking for!
3: The XMAS JUMPER: POLKA DOT PUDDING JUMPER NEW LOOK £27.99
As you might have seen in my latest OOTD, I have found my perfect Xmas Jumper! This however is a more traditional design, a Christmas Pud! The pale blue colour is really cute, and the added polka dots just add to the whole round adorable nature to this cosy jumper.
4: THE BAG: CHLOBIE STUDDED CLEAR PANEL BAG MISSGUIDED £14.99
I have loved transparent bags since I don’t know when! I really liked the larger envelope one Missguided did, but it’s now no longer available but this mini bag with stud detailing is a perfect compromise.
5: THE NAIL ART BOOK OF THE GODS: DOWNTOWN GIRLS (WAH! NAILS) URBAN OUTFITTERS £11.99
I Jenny am a nail art addict! Every chance I get I’m doodling on my nails, I would one day LOVE to have my nails done by the Wah girls…. But until then I can attempt to create their fun nail art at home, I have the first instalment of this book and this one will fingers crossed be mine at some point. I follow then on Instagram too so Im surrounded by nailspiration :)
6. THE LOMOGRAPHY CAMERA: TOO CUTE URBAN OUTFITTERS £100
I have to admit that when I added this to my list it was still available at Urban Outfitters, since then its now disappeared and silly me I didn’t write down price duh! I do remember it being around £100, either way all of their camera’s at UO are too cute and snazzy! I’ve always loved adding filters to photo’s, so this Lomography Camera is just a full on filter machine! Yay!
7. THE PRACTICAL CAMERA: CANON EOS 1100D ARGOS £269.99
I think I say this every post, but I really am trying to save for a new camera! As much as I love my Nikon Coolpix, it’s not up to scratch anymore in my eyes…. Please don’t break now I’ve shared my love of a new camera to the internet! This Canon might not be the most up to date but its got everything I need to get some cracking blog photo’s one being that I can use a remote! No more standing like a lemon waiting for the timer. It’s also got better video recording capabilities. As I really want to get my YouTube channel properly started. So this is more of a ‘I will eventually own you’ and not just something ‘Im loving this week only’.
8. NAIL VARNISH ADVENT CALENDAR! SAY WHATTTT!!!! CIATE MINI MANI MONTH ASOS £42.00
As much as I love chocolate advent calendars this nail varnish one does look AWESOME. With plenty of sparkly toppers to go with the block colours you really are getting an amazing amount of varnish. I wish someone would buy this for me! waaaa!!! Oh well… I will just stuff my face with chocolate instead!
I realise this has been quite a text-y post, but I do like to talk A LOT! You guys probably know that by now!
Til next time
Hello everyone, hope you are all well!
Last weekend my Mum and I went to Dublin! For me it was my first time there, and can I just say that being a tiny bit excited was an understatement! I was like a kid in a sweet shop! Eeeeee!!!! It wasn’t just for the fact we were going to Dublin, but also that we were going to see Paramore. I LOVE THEM!!!
Dublin itself if beautiful! We spent our time in Temple Bar, which is a mix of Soho & Camden, my ideal type of place, quirky shops, cool bars and pubs and pretty awesome street art.
Just down from our hotel alongside the Liffey, there is the ‘Potato Famine Sculptures’, which really are quite sad, just to image the true reality of what the sculptures represent, the most harrowing is that of a man carrying his child over this shoulders.
While walking into Dublin on our first day there, I spotted a ‘Beauty Bus’, parked up across the road, I’ve seen these type of open top buses while browsing at various festival instagram feeds, this one was for the Dublin Fashion Festival, that unknown to me was hitting Dublin between 5th & 8th Sept, just 2 days after we were due to leave. I dragged Mum across the road to investigate. Inside I was treated to a mini make over by one of the lovely make up artists at LA Creative, I got some gorgeous peach blusher and contoured features, and some luscious lips to go with it.
I of course went a bit shopping mad, I mean I didn’t buy like loads and loads, but for such a short amount of time we were there I did come back with a fair bit. (Which I will go into more detail in a future post), but for now I can just show off the evidence haha the bags.
Now to the actual reason we were in Dublin… Paramore. What can I say really, they were bloomin amazing! I had a very croaky voice afterwards, I sang along to every single song, yeah I’m one of those crazy fans that knows every single song off by heart. The amount of energy Hayley Williams has is unbelievable. We were also introduced to a new band for the supporting act. Walking on Cars, a 5 piece band from Dingle. The lead singer sounds a lot like Charlie Simpson (Fightstar/ Busted). If you are looking for new music I’d highly recommend them. You will have to excuse the state of the photos, they were taken on my phone, but either way, if you get the chance to see Paramore live you are in for a treat!
I really enjoyed my 3 days in Dublin, both Mum and I had such a lovely time. We didn’t want to leave and have everyday since we’ve been back kept saying ‘grand’ as it really was grand! The people are so nice and everywhere we went everyone was so friendly and polite. I also fell in love with the assistant in Urban Outfitters, his accent! Oh My God!!!!! Swoooonnnnn…. hehe!!
I would highly recommend a mini break to Dublin if you have never been before, because both my Mum and I don’t drink we didn’t go on the Guinness factory tour or to any of the whisky places, but we did see a crazy looking Viking tour drive past in a cool boat/truck thing, where all the people had viking helmets on! Some of the other places we went to that I would say are definite places to visit would be:
- St Stephens Green a gorgeous park area at the end of Grafton Street, with beautiful garden areas and two giant duck ponds, its a nice place to go sit and have a break from the hussle and bussle of shopping and walking!
- Grafton Street, shopping heaven!
- Brown Thomas, think Harrods of Ireland. Prepare to stare at everything, I even sneakily tried on some Christian Louboutin shoes… shhhh….
- Beweley’s, a coffee shop gone wild! Not in that way, but in a way that it has been extended into many different levels, but still in keeping with its original features. A nice place to have a coffee and cake break.
- Powerscourt Townhouse- home to cure boutique shops, some restaurants and a bar, the main ‘atrium’ space is truly stunning.
- O’Connell Street, home to the Spire, an absolutely crazy structure that is very very hard to miss! Oh and Penney’s (Primark) unlike any Primark I’ve ever seen, its clean, organised and you can actually find the things you want!! haha!
- Trinity College, amazing to think that a university is a tourist attraction, beautiful buildings to be seen.
Places to eat, its safe to say you are spoilt for choice with places to eat in Dublin. Where we went:
- Elephant & Castle, Temple Bar. Described as an American restaurant, I’d say it was more of a mixture of foods, I had the egg’s benedict and Mum had a club sandwich.
- Oly’s Bar & Restaurant, located in our hotel Jury’s Inn, Custom House Quay
- Eddie Rocket’s, O’ Connell Street, an all American Diner, absolutely amazing…
I can safely say that Dublin, you were great! And you will be seeing me again!
